Walks for Matt Hampson

Day 3 - Exeter to Honiton Today was a good walking day, I felt a lot better once I'd got my shoes on than I thought I would, and after a nice BLT breakfast we set off from Sandy Park, Kevin guiding me though the outskirts of Exeter to the Honiton Road. I had got lost doing this on a training run so that was nice. Then I plodded along on my own until we met for lunch as Kevin had to dive home and sort out builders and house sitters. We met up after about 10 miles and this time drove BACK to the pub, not forward. This is better for my brain. We'd always wanted to eat at the Jack in the Green as it has a good reputation round here, and it was really good. Then walked on to Honiton where we had a cup of tea and a foot care stop. 5 toes are now misbehaving. I have a variety of condom things filled with vaseline which I am swapping around to keep them comfy. Looks fantastic in my flip flops!. Didn't take many photos today, more friendly cows, a shed that had "Chapel of Rest" painted on the side of it but I couldn't get in! A pretty view or two, a large scary lorry that met me on a very narrow lane, I think that was it. Oh and a Devon flag. Have seen a few of those about. A lot of the walk ran parallel with the A303 and was super creepy quiet, then when I had had enough of that and hit the 303 it was super scary busy. Luckily I just did a mile of that without dying and Kevin found me and rescued me. 20 miles done so we called it a day and are devising a new route for tomorrow starting from Chard to Ilchester, so same mileage, less scary. Actually feeling really quite OK today. I think my body has got resigned to it. |
