Day 2 - Dartmoor to Exeter

I started the day a bit badly by managing to get lost after about 30 seconds. The road I was supposed to take looked so small and unlikely I thought it was the cycle path and went a bit wrong, but only added about half a mile to my total so not too bad. Met a lot of cyclists today skirting the A30 so was very busy saying "morning" and looking smug and sporty. It's a bit like the biker nod, the smug and sporty "morning". Look how good and fit we are!

Took a few photos of passing sheep, which went at a hell of a rate, the lady at the front running like the clappers, followed by sheep, followed by 2 dogs and bloke running like clappers. It was a busy stretch of road so I guess they try and hold everyone up as little as possible. Shows how nice country dwellers are, and thank you to hedge trimming guy who stopped to let me pass too, and didn't impale me with bits of hedge twig. I was very grateful.

Odd roadside decoration at Whiddon Down that looked a bit like cruise missiles painted bright yellow with a few pretty flowers interspersed. Also Banksy had decorated a Devon sign with his signature rat. Nice driftwood type decoration on a village sign too. I do love all that bonkers stuff people do on the entrance to villages. You're going to get a lot of that I'm afraid.

Had lunch at Tedburn St Mary. Really great mussels and a goats cheese tart. Yum. Then got driven back to where Kevin had picked me up and had to walk back through the village - which hurt. I hope you are all taking note, I am not getting let off a single foot. I get deposited at exactly the same lay by even though I had to walk from the bar to the toilet twice and that must have been a good few yards! Yeah.

Pic of friendly cows, and then pretty view as I approached Exeter. I was knackered at this point so it was really good to see. I got so excited, I took the legs off my trousers and treated Exeter to my very dodgy knees, photographic evidence enclosed (not for faint hearted).

My lovely husband met me at Exeter as I am so crap at navigating I definitely would have got lost, treated me to a drink and then walked me through the city. There should be photographic evidence of that too as I made him let me take a picture, but as he uploads the blog, he may not include it! (note to husband - you'll have to now!)

The road to Sandy Park seemed very long. The tops of your legs just ache at the end of the day, and I am gathering blisters and odd coloured toenails already. Finally got to the car at 6.15. Home and bathed, glass of wine firmly now in hand I feel pretty good and cyclist smug. 22 (and a half for getting lost - and a few yards from the bar to the toilet (twice)) miles done today.
