Tues, 15th - Day 10 - Stow to Halford

Dropped off bright an early this morning, 8.30 by the side of the A429, as Kevin had to go and get emergency medical help for his laptop, which is very ill. Sorry no uploads for a day or 2, we have no internet or phone signal at the cottage we are staying at, and then the laptop died a big death, so we are very out of touch. Apologies if anyone has tried to get us.

Well I am still plodding along. Set off on the big scary road to get some miles under my belt today before being joined by my lovely daughter Rebecca and her boyfriend Stefan for a bit of the walk this afternoon. I really race along the big roads as mortal terror doesn't half speed you up. Most of it was OK, the odd bend where it was hard to get off the road out of the way if anything big came by, but mainly just a chin out trudge. First was a massive slope downhill and then a slow plod uphill, and at the top a sign to Clapton on the Hill. I passed a sofa in a field that was a bit tempting. On up to Bourton on the Water and by then I had had enough of the 429 and headed off along one of the footpaths on the left and up to Lower Slaughter and Lower Swell, then back onto the main road up to Broadwell where we stopped for lunch and I met up with Rebecca and Stefan who Kevin had met at the station. Really great to see them both. We had a nice lunch (I think it was the Fox Inn?) and the landlady was very friendly and let us borrow a plug socket to charge up the iphones. I am being gps tracked by mine and it can use a bit of juice. Safest as I keep getting lost or diving off onto footpaths unannounced! I know you can't wait to find out - spicy chicken wings, salad and fries, with mayonnaise, which I couldn't find because they had really stupidly put it right in front of me. People!

R&S then joined me and we headed off right up to Evenlode and on to Moreton-in-Marsh where we stopped for tea. The stalker (as Kevin is now universally known) turned up at regular street corners to photograph us and check if the others had had enough. My daughter isn't the world's sportiest, and Stef had been up until 3am watching American Football, but they made it all the way, thanks guys!
